The Utah Disposal of Electronic Waste Act requires manufacturers of consumer electronic devices (CEDs) to submit a report that describes options for recycling electronic devices. This Utah electronics recycling legislation is unique from most other states in that it does not mandate recycling, or require that manufacturers of CEDs fund the recycling programs in the state.

Manufacturers must submit the report before August 1st of each year to the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (Utah DEQ). The report must include a list of “eligible programs” which are take-back programs for electronic waste,, including options for consumers to return electronics by mail, at a physical collection site or at a collection event.
