Logistics That Keep You Moving: Why Control, Consistency, and Care Matter Most
In this episode from Inside the Vertical Advantage — a special Dynamic SPARK podcast series — Justin Kaminsky, Director of Logistics, shares how bringing logistics in-house creates unmatched control, consistency, and trust. From dedicated drivers to real-time visibility, he explains why logistics isn’t just about moving freight — it’s about delivering confidence.
The Heartbeat of Integration: Why Logistics Matters Most
In the world of electronics recycling and IT asset disposition, logistics is where everything begins. It’s the heartbeat that keeps the entire process moving.
“Logistics is one of the most difficult parts of nearly every company,” says Justin Kaminsky. “But it’s also where it all starts. If that part doesn’t go right, nothing else matters. For us, execution is everything.”
Our customers often notice the difference right away. Seeing the same trained driver show up consistently builds trust, familiarity, and a sense of ease. “Our drivers stick around, so they get to know the sites, the people, and the little details that make everything smoother,” Justin explains. “It just feels more personal — and that makes the whole process faster and stress-free.”
Control and Confidence Through an In-House Model
Dynamic’s logistics model looks very different from a typical third-party carrier setup. Instead of outsourcing everything, the team runs a three-layer system: Dynamic’s own trucks and drivers, an in-house carrier network, and a small group of vetted brokers for hard-to-cover areas.
That structure gives Dynamic control, flexibility, and reliability — three things that traditional broker models often can’t deliver.
“When you outsource, you give up visibility and control,” Justin says. “With our own fleet, we decide who shows up, when they show up, and how the job gets done.”
That control also strengthens security and consistency. Dynamic’s trucks and drivers represent the company directly — no random carriers or unclear handoffs. “Whenever possible, we want our own logo on the truck and our own drivers behind the wheel,” he adds. “That’s how we make sure customers never have to question who’s handling their material.
It’s not just about moving freight — it’s about building relationships customers can rely on every time.
The Human Side of Logistics: Culture on the Road
For Dynamic, logistics isn’t just a system — it’s an extension of company culture. Drivers aren’t just moving freight; they’re delivering an experience.
“Our drivers don’t just pull up, load, and leave,” Justin says. “They take ownership of the entire interaction. They do the right thing, treat people with care and respect, and make every pickup feel professional and personal.”
That human touch shows up in countless ways. Justin recalls a moment when a driver messaged the team to let them know a customer’s mother was having surgery so the Dynamic team could send flowers. “Nobody asked him to do that,” Justin says. “He just cared enough to make sure we knew. That’s what trust looks like in action.”
It’s a reflection of Dynamic’s culture in motion — serving with love, showing reliability, and taking pride in every interaction.
Secure by Design: Protecting Data in Transit
In a world where data security and compliance are non-negotiable, logistics plays a vital role in protecting sensitive equipment in transit.
“One of the biggest advantages is that our customers know exactly who’s handling their equipment,” Justin explains. “Our drivers are Dynamic employees. They’re background-checked, trained, and certified to handle data-bearing assets.”
Every pickup follows strict chain-of-custody protocols. Trucks are sealed at the pickup site, and seals remain intact until the load arrives at Dynamic’s dock. “Every step’s documented, every seal’s intact,” Justin says. “Customers can trust that from pickup to processing, their data is secure.”
Technology in Motion: Visibility That Builds Trust
Dynamic pairs human reliability with technology that gives customers peace of mind.
“We use tools like Geotab for electronic logging, dashcams, and Toro TMS for managing shipments,” Justin says. “With MyCarrier, we can share live tracking links so customers can see exactly where their material is — whether the driver’s in transit, the pickup’s complete, or it’s already at our dock.”
For customers who want even more transparency, Dynamic offers GPS trackers for end-to-end visibility. The logistics team has even explored smart crates for LTL shipping — high-tech containers equipped with GPS, tamper-evident seals, and sensors that monitor vibration and impact.
“It’s another example of how we’ve connected every piece of the process from pickup to processing under one roof,” Justin says.
Reliability in Action: When Flexibility Matters Most
When a customer’s needs change at the last minute, flexibility is everything. Justin recalls a recent collection event in Minnesota that brought in far more material than expected.
“By midday, it was obvious one truck wasn’t going to cut it,” he says. “Normally that would mean delays, but we leaned on our carrier network — partners we trust — and had another truck there in time to finish the job. The customer never saw the scramble behind the scenes. They just saw everything run smoothly.”
That story captures what makes Dynamic’s logistics model unique: it blends ownership with partnership, ensuring there’s always a plan B ready. “Trucks break down, customers reschedule — that’s the nature of the business,” Justin says. “What makes us different is how we respond. We stay proactive in a reactive industry.”
The Big Picture: How Logistics Fuels Vertical Integration
At the end of the day, logistics isn’t just one piece of Dynamic’s vertically integrated model — it’s what connects all the others.
“Logistics is what pulls vertical integration together,” Justin says. “By keeping it in-house, we cut out handoffs, reduce risk, and move faster. Customers don’t have to chase multiple partners. They have one team that owns the process from start to finish.”
That consistency gives customers more control, better visibility, and a smoother overall experience — turning what’s often seen as a headache into one of the easiest parts of their program.
