But in the ITAD and electronics recycling industry, certifications represent something much more important: confidence, especially for enterprise organizations and data centers operating under intense scrutiny.

Two specific certifications have increasingly become the clearest signals of enterprise security readiness: ISO 27001 and SOC 2. While different in structure, both demonstrate that security isn’t dependent on individual effort or good intentions, but supported by systems, governance, and controls that operate consistently over time.  

That consistency is what makes an organization truly audit-ready, not just during a scheduled assessment, but in the everyday execution of how assets, data, and documentation are handled.

• SOC 2 provides independent validation that key controls are not only designed appropriately, but also functioning reliably in day-to-day operations.

The disposition of IT assets transfers equipment, data-bearing devices, and accountability from one environment to another. With every pickup, transport, processing step, and final report, organizations are managing exposure tied to security, compliance, and reputation.
