What is IT asset disposition?
IT asset disposition, or ITAD, refers to the process of taking retired IT assets such as laptops, desktops, servers, or mobile devices and sending them to a certified ITAD vendor. That vendor destroys the sensitive data stored in the memory, providing detailed reporting for each asset, and executes either resale or recycling of the device.
What happens to my devices if they cannot be reused?
An ITAD vendor will reduce it to components for possible resale. If that is not possible, the device is then reduced further to it’s base materials for reuse and resale. This is why it is important to work with an ITAD vendor with recycling capabilities, who can securely dispose of your device no matter it’s final destination.
